About The Food Bus Project
The Food Bus Project was created to tackle food insecurity by bringing affordable, fresh produce directly to communities with limited access to healthy food. Recognising the urgent need in areas like Wandsworth and Lambeth, we launched the project to ensure that everyone—regardless of income or location—has access to nutritious food.
The Food Bus, a converted double-decker bus, acts as a mobile greengrocer and community hub, stocked with low-cost fresh fruit, vegetables, and pantry staples. It stops in areas where supermarkets are scarce or expensive, offering an alternative to unhealthy, high-cost convenience food. As demand grew, we introduced the Food Float, a smaller and more flexible version of the bus, allowing us to reach even more communities with fresh, affordable groceries.
By making regular stops across South London, attending community events, and partnering with local organisations, the Food Bus Project is more than just a food service—it’s a space for connection, support, and education. Through this initiative, we help families and individuals eat well, reduce food waste, and build a stronger, more resilient local food system.

Highly Commended

We were over the moon to see our work with the Food Bus highlighted at the national Social Value awards. Our specially converted double-decker was highly commended in the Social Innovation category.
Be Enriched Founder and CEO Kemi Akinola said: “We are delighted that The Food Bus was recognised in this way. It has been a labour of love to get to this point. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported this important work, especially the team on board the bus. They work hard each and every week to bring low cost, healthy food and essentials to those who need them in Lambeth and Wandsworth. This commendation demonstrates the positive impact we are having, especially at a challenging time, and we look forward to taking this further in the future. Everyone is welcome on board the Food Bus. When you shop with us, you can feel confident that you are also supporting the local community. If there is anyone who would like to get further involved in this work, including sponsoring the bus, please do get in touch.”
